The Best Autumnal Kitchen Trends & Tips

Few of us are afforded the luxury of being able to change our kitchen with the seasons – actually, do you know anyone who does?! Sure, we can swap a few accessories here and there, but we’re not all going to rush out to buy new cabinets each time the weather alters.

That said, if you are thinking of overhauling your kitchen anyway, you’ll appreciate our top tips and autumnal trends. And for those who simply change the look and feel of their space with a few lovely trinkets scattered here and there, you’ll like this piece, too. Featuring some autumnal ideas and advice, it’ll help you breathe new life into your kitchen – and your home. Enjoy!

Create a Cosy Atmosphere

As the evenings draw in, think about creating a tranquil atmosphere in your kitchen. The perfect place for kids to do their homework undisturbed, or to get stuck into a late-night project, the hub of the home should be nothing if not inviting.

You can transition your kitchen from summer to autumn easily, too; add oranges and apples to a bowl with some dried berries or leaves, creating  a colourful tablecentre when you have guests visiting. Place tealights, on shelves (in glass jars, for safety reasons) and choose relaxing downlighting, too. Just don’t cook in the dark, though!

Think Rustic

Are you thinking of investing in a new table? A rustic-looking wooden one works well during any season. Add one to your home in the summer and you’ll find it can slot into your decor all year round.

In the warmer months, you can place a pretty gingham tablecloth over it, while in the autumn and winter, you can allow an earthy-looking table like the one below to speak for itself. Autumnal kitchen trends don’t get much better than this – plus, it’s an excuse to send your old table to the tip, eh?

Get Creative

You don’t have to spend a lot to add some beautiful autumnal touches to your kitchen – and your home in general. Greenery can look gorgeous displayed in dark green, burnt orange or red vases, and it’ll add interest to a windowsill that’s otherwise left bare.

Choose a Bold Splashback

As we said earlier, you don’t have to redo your whole kitchen to reap the rewards of a space that looks good during the autumn months. Why not replace a tired old splashback with a vibrant one from the My Appliances site? Dark red and purple make excellent choices for autumn, we reckon. And at much less than £40 per piece, these splashbacks are a simple and affordable option for a kitchen that could benefit from a little colour year-round.
